A prolonged period of significant rainfall and strong winds is expected. Locations: south coast of Newfoundland Channel-Port aux Basques to the Burin Peninsula Total Rainfall: 80 to 130 mm, with locally higher amounts possible between Isle aux Morts and McCallum. Maximum wind gusts for Burgeo to the Burin Peninsula (Tuesday night): southeasterly 80 km/h. Maximum wind gusts for Burgeo to the Burin Peninsula (Wednesday): southwesterly up to 100 km/h. Time span: this evening until Wednesday morning. Prolonged heavy rain can damage road shoulders and increase the risk of washouts. Clear storm drains and gutters of leaves and other debris in advance of the rainfall. Localized flooding is likely. Some roads may become impassable. Travel delays and/or cancellations are likely.
