Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

  • Nain and vicinity

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

A frigid airmass will keep wind chills of -40 to -45 in western Labrador today, and is expected to bring widespread wind chills of -45 to -48 late overnight and Friday morning throughout western Labrador and northern parts of the coast.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks to warm up.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
