Special weather statement in effect for:
- Fredericton and Southern York County
Significant snowfall possible today through into Tuesday.
A slow moving low pressure system will track south of Nova Scotia today and then cross Cape Breton Island overnight tonight. Snow has developed in the southwest, and will spread across the province this afternoon. The snow will persist into Tuesday.
Total snowfall amounts of up to 20 cm are possible for some areas of southern and eastern New Brunswick by midday Thursday, but a snowfall warning (15 cm of snow in 12 hours) has not been issued since the snowfall is expected to occur over an extended period of time (18 to 24 hours).
Additionally, strong northwesterly winds are expected on Tuesday which may cause reduced visibility in blowing snow. A blowing snow advisory has been issued for parts of southeastern New Brunswick and may be extended as this system evolves.
