Alerts for: Central Coast - inland sections

4:03 PM PST Tuesday 29 November 2022
Arctic outflow warning in effect for:

  • Central Coast - inland sections

Strong winds, falling temperatures and windchill.

When: Tonight through Wednesday.

Hazards: Frostbite.

High pressure over the BC interior will continue to push arctic air out towards the coast much of this week. Strengthening outflow winds through mainland inlets and valleys will lead to falling temperatures and cold windchill values of at least minus 20 beginning tonight.

Arctic outflow conditions are expected to diminish on Thursday as the ridge over the BC interior weakens. On Friday, a low pressure system is likely to skirt the BC Coast as the ridge over the interior rebuilds, leading to a return to frigid outflow conditions.

Anyone who is not dressed warmly is at risk of frostbite and hypothermia in cold weather. Be prepared for unusually cold temperatures and strong winds.
