At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 1013 mb located over the Gulf of Maine.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Sunday low 1012 mb located over the Gulf of
St. Lawrence.
At 3:00 a.m. AST Sunday ridge located over New England.
By 3:30 p.m. AST Sunday ridge located over the central Marine
District.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:09 AM AST 17 January 2026 A trough east of Newfoundland will continue to move farther awaytoday. A ridge over New England will move across the district today
and tonight. Strong to gale force westerlies over eastern waters will
diminish today.
A low will develop over the Gulf of Maine later today and will move
to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence Sunday morning. Strong to gale
force southwesterlies will develop over southern waters tonight.
These winds will diminish on Sunday as another ridge moves over the
marine district.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Sable, East Scotian Slope, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait,
Gulf-Magdalen and Anticosti.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for eastern shore, Fourchu, Cabot Strait, Northumberland
Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and Anticosti.
