Blizzard Warning in effect for:

Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and visibility frequently near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring. Where: Near the Richardson Mountains. When: This morning. Hazard: Near zero visibility in blowing snow and accumulating snow. Remarks: A frontal system over northern Yukon will continue to bring light snow and strong winds to the Dempster this morning. Easterly winds of 70 gusting 90 km/h will prevail near the Richardson Mountains. Falling snow, as well as snow on the ground, will combine with the winds to give reduced visibility in blowing snow. Conditions will improve this afternoon as the winds ease. Travel is expected to be very difficult or impossible due to near-zero visibility. If you become stranded in a vehicle do not leave. The vehicle offers a form of protection from the cold. A single person walking through the snow is harder to find than a stranded car or truck. Anyone who is not dressed warmly is at risk of frostbite and hypothermia in cold weather. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
