A significant winter storm continues. Locations: western Newfoundland from Bay St. George to Corner Brook and the Great Northern Peninsula. Further snowfall: 5 to 10 cm except near 15 over higher terrain. Maximum wind gusts: north to northwesterly 90 to 120 km/h. Time span: ending overnight tonight. Remarks: The combination of snow and strong winds will result in poor visibility in blowing snow tonight. Travel will likely be challenging. Consider postponing non-essential travel and outdoor activities until conditions improve. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather (such as snow, freezing rain, wind and rain) are expected or occurring.
