Snow squalls are occurring over some areas. Locations: Burin Peninsula and the southern Avalon Peninsula. Additional snowfall: 2 to 5 cm in snow squalls. Maximum wind gusts: westerly 50 km/h. Time span: ending later this morning. Remarks: Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow and blowing snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Snow squall warnings are issued when localized, intense snowfall causing rapid accumulation and/or visibility near zero is expected.
