YELLOW WARNING - RAINFALL

Impact Level: Moderate

Forecast Confidence: High

Significant rainfall combined with melting snow is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Locations: the south coast of Newfoundland from Port aux Basques to the southern Avalon Peninsula. Additional rainfall: 15 to 30 mm, with locally higher amounts possible. Time span: continuing until this evening. Remarks: Localized flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage. Rainfall rates of 5 to and possibly exceeding 10 mm per hour may occur over some locations Watch for slippery conditions where rain falls on frozen surfaces. Ensure storm drains and gutters are clear of ice and debris to reduce localized flooding. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts.
