RAINFALL WARNING

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Locations: southwestern and western Newfoundland including the Great Northern Peninsula and Green Bay - White Bay. Time Span: Continuing until Saturday morning or evening. Total Rainfall Amounts: 40 to 70 mm, with higher amounts possible. Remarks: Steadier rainfall is expected to begin again over the southwest coast early Friday morning. Significant runoff may occur as the rain combines with mild temperatures, leading to considerable snowmelt. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
